A chaotic win in Elona's Reach.
This attempt at Elona's was filled with more flaws and screw ups than any other mission I have ever done. Our team was: R/E (me). Me/Mo, W/Mo, E/?, E/?, Mo/?. I can't remember the secondary profesions of those 3 guys.
Our healer truly did suck. When one single Enchanted Sword was attacking him, he would start to run and take critical hits like crazy. Eventualy that 1 enemy would killl our healer. Every single mob we fought, our healer died.
Well when we got to the ghostly hero, we took the left gate and went after that crystal. After some fighting and dieing, we got it. We brought it to the set of preists bones near that crystal and dropped it there for the time being.
From there, we started off for the second crystal. But that mob of 4 enemies (1 sage, 2 swords, 1 cursebreaker). Practicly whiped us out because our healer died instantly. After that battle, we were kinda pissed and told the healer to go get more practice because he well, sucks. After that mob, our healer left. Luckily one of our elementalists slipped away and res signet'ed our warrior who had rebirth. After rebirthing us all, we tried to move as close to the second crystal as stealthy as we could. A mob ended up getting on our backs and killing a few people. I through on storm chaser, and ran into the area with the second crystal. Grabbed it, and ran it all the way back to the ghostly hero.
I went back for the other crystal, but our elementalist had taken it near the other bones and died. I grabbed that crystal, threw on storm chaser and managed to go get the bonus for us. I then ran that crystall all the way back with 3 minutes remaining.
There you have it, probably the most screwed up team winning one of the hardest missions.

You are correct the healer stunk. He/she should have never had agro. Probably standing way to close to the warrior instead of backing off. Guess they wanted to try tanking instead of healing. LOL.
But Elonas is not one of the hardest missions. Of course that is my opinion only and having some decent luck with PUGs.

glad you made it... cheers and good job on that ... dealing with situations like that is frusterating to say the least ...
imo ... thunderhead keep is the most difficult with pugs ... many pugs rush and have no strategy and well its frusterating because they .... I'll let ya learn for yourself when your there... but again ... good work ...

So what exactly should a monk do in that scenario? Assuming the mob ran past the warrior to the BACK [where the mages are] and started hitting him? As a monk i get in the scenario all too often and i have limited options:
1. Run back to the FRONT, drawing the mob back onto the warrior.
2. Stand still, casting my best healing spell [i.e. heal area/healing seed] to stay alive and tank while the warrior is sluging it out in front. During this no-one is getting healed, except me....
Now if the warrior do not change targets to the mob hitting the monk/mage, then whos fault is that exactly?

You actualy should just self heal until your group can come help you.
But this monk couldn't heal worth crap.
I just did Thirsty river and dunes of despair with 2 guildies and the rest pug, beat both first try. Also just killed glint first try with a pure pug. I distracted every single one of her crystal hibernations.
Thunderhead keep is super easy if you get your group to follow orders. Beat it first try with me E/Me. It is all about those seige. No, we didn't curl up into the corner with the king, while we had 1 person on each of the 2 seige sets, the rest of the group patroled back and forth between the 2 gates.

Indeed
I had a similar win when I did Thirsty River.
The setup was a friend (N/W), me (N/Me at the time), a warrior, ranger, and two monks, whose secondaries I cannot recall. Having two monks, I felt good about completing this mission. We lsot once but quickly shaped up and made it to the final group.
Then things got chaotic. One of our monks pounded on the boss because he was a greedy bastard and wanted the elite. When all but one of us died, our warrior ran out as we verbally assualted the monk, who left. The warrior tried everything to get in. He ressed everyone except me, as I was too far i nthe room to be rescued without harm.
So I watched my team. Our warrior attempted to lure out the mobs and leave them at the beginning of the level so they were gone, but wouldn't respawn. He finally managed to slip away, making it necessary to fight only sixish enemies. As our N/W lured two more away (thought not far), our remaining Monk rushed in to res me. We were all out with 30-60% DPs. We had tried getting in there for a logn time (our clock was at 58:00), and had stuck by though all hope seemed lost.
We sucked it up, ran in, and killed the priest. It was ahrd as he and the boss were healing him. We did it, however, and ran out. We were almost home free. Slowly we eliminated the henchmen and the boss. Then we returned to the beginning of the elvel to take out those we had lured.
If it weren't for that warrior's efforts, we would have failed miserably. That monk that left never did get his precious elite skill. Thatw as the most intense mission I've ever done, and thankfully the remaining four of my teammates were intelligent, resourceful people.
The missions you almost fail always have the best stories.

Oh man Elona has been chaos everytime I've done it. Last time I did it with my monk we decided to get the right crystal first. We got it without too much trouble but we wasted some time so we had 10 minutes left.
As we were going for the other crystal 2 people just rushed on the bridge aggroing the boss, 2 people dead. turns out one of them hadnt dropped the crystal off at the ghost so it was lying there on the bridge... Anyway, a couple of rebirths and everyone was together again. We manage to get the crystal on the left and someone else grabs the crystal on the bridge. The one on the bridge ran the towards the warrior instead of running towards the ghost (oh man...), she gets past the boss mob and runs close to the priest altar thing behind the rock, she gets killed. We try to run like hell and I'm spamming heals and condition removers as much as I can to keep the warrior running with the crystal which he does deliver to the ghost. Everyone but the warrior dies and I thought oh hell... it's over.
So now there's still one crystal behind the rock near the priest altar with a couple of enchanted swords and mages. He aggro's them while grabbing the crystal and even gets hit a couple of times but for some reason doesnt get crippled and manages to deliver the crystal to the ghost completing the mission with 30 seconds remaining.

Reminds me of my first Elona try - I had no clue what to do, it was just me, my girlfriend and four henchies. We took the bridge, made about every mistake you can make (watched the cutscene which shaved off 90 seconds of the 30 minutes back then) and still beat it on the first try with about 5 minutes left
Since then I think I have truly mastered that mission, did it with several people who had dozens of unsuccessful tries and were so astonished when they learned how easy it can be with the right tactics. Out of fun I tried it with my W/Mo solo and it is manageable. Just sprint, balanced stance, some self heals. Grab them an run to the safe areas (you'll find out where they are pretty soon).
